There are nine specially designed houses on the complex accommodating a total of 35 residents.
All rooms are fitted with an emergency call bell system. Each resident has his or her own bedroom with shared bathroom facilities. Each house has its own kitchen, dining / lounge and laundry areas. The community Thaine Hall is for residents use, it has a large screen TV and a stereo system.
The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu services are available to adults less than 65 years of age in the community with an identified need for the type of services the Foundation is contracted to provide. The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu is committed to the provision of timely, competent and appropriate care for people with disabilities who require residential care. Our facility is well resourced with appropriate equipment to carry out care requirements as per legislation / Ministry of Health / ACC Contractual requirements.
The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu has a contract with A.C.C. to provide residential services to A.C.C. clients assessed at either level R.R.S. 1, R.R.S. 2. And R.R.S.3.
The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu requires a referral from the client’s Case Manager and information to ascertain that the client will fall within the boundaries of level 1, 2 or 3

To ascertain suitability for our service prospective clients are encouraged to visit the complex and meet with management and staff to discuss the services we are able to provide.
The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu does not maintain a waiting list in the conventional sense. When a vacancy arises within one of our nine houses we consider the client’s compatibility with the existing flatmates when making a decision to offer a room.
Payment for services provided for the client is made by A.C.C. each month directly to The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu.

The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu requires a referral from the client’s NASC Case Manager and information to ascertain that The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu has a contract with the Ministry of Health to provide residential care services to those clients who have been assessed as having a physical disability, are aged less than 65 years, and have been assessed by their local NASC agency as having a Support Needs Level between 3 and 5. the client will fall within the boundaries of SNL 3 and 5.

The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu is able to offer Respite Care services for short stays. This option is useful for both prospective clients to come and experience life within our complex.

The cost of accommodation and support is set by the Ministry of Health. This payment is direct debited to the Ryder-Cheshire Foundation Manawatu from the Central Payment Office and WINZ. Your personal allowance is paid from WINZ directly into your personal bank account.
